Duterte: Low COVID-19 vaccine supply could lead to more death

President Rodrigo R. Duterte(PRRD) said on Thursday night, April 15, 2021, during his public address that more deaths could be expected as the country struggles to secure the COVID-19 vaccine.

He also informed the public that there were only 3.025 million vaccine shots available in the country and is barely enough to inoculate the health workers.

“Hanggang ngayon the word ‘unavailable’ is nandiyan, unavailable because there are not–there’s no sufficient supply to inoculate the world,” said PRRD ina pre-recorded speech.

“Matagal pa ito. Sabihin ko sa iyo marami pang mamamatay dito. Hindi ko lang maturo kung sino.”He added.

The government is expecting to vaccinate 70  million people this year yet PRRD is not sure if the stocks are sufficient to vaccinate all people provided that industrial countries are not yet ready to let go of their vaccine stocks.

As of April 16,2021, authorities have administered 1.2 million shots.
