President Rodrigo R. Duterte praises “selfless,dedicated” COVID -19 frontliners as the country celebrates Day of Valor (Araw ng Kagitingan) on Friday, April 9,2021.
“As we continue to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, we take a moment to honor the fortitude displayed by our selfless and dedicated front liners whose unrelenting commitment in this fight reflects the heroism of the warriors of Bataan that continues to inspire in us a greater sense of patriotism and solidarity during these trying times,” Duterte said.
He also honored the country’s fallen soldiers. In his statement, he mentioned that fallen soldiers “whose sacrifice became the bedrock of our resolve to uphold our most cherished liberties.”
Every April 9, the country celebrates Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) also known as Bataan Day and Bataan and Corregidor Day, is a national observance in the Philippines which commemorates the fall of Bataan during World War II.
